Ms Martin has been a chess teacher for the last 8 years in both Tucson and New York City. Ms Martin uses student-centered teaching to augment children’s self-esteem and problem-solving skills.

She believes in stimulating the desire for knowledge and motivation to learn. Anyone, boy or girl, any age, can learn to play chess and through hard work can become a strong chess player. Ms Martin utilizes chess as a tool to promote education and respect. In Brooklyn, she coached children who started as beginners to become First Place Girls National Champions under 10, and her mixed team won 5th place overall in the United States in the Spring 2005 Nationals.
