Ms Elizabeth Crump BS (UN Reno) Ms Crump has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada, Reno, in Early Childhood Education, Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in psychology. She has been a Pre-school teacher and assistant director, running the school’s literacy program, and an Elementary school literacy tutor. Ms Crump has worked with developmentally disabled children in one-on-one situations, as well as in group settings, and she also has a background in student-directed learning, and the Reggio Emilia and Montessori approaches to teaching young children. Dr Peter D Edwards PhD (Birmingham, UK), BS (Birmingham, UK) Dr Edwards received BS and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Birmingham in England. He has taught and/or tutored mathematics, science and computing for several middle and high schools in the Tucson area. He has presented summer workshops in the Tucson area and now teaches mathematics, chemistry and physics for Sage Valley School. Prior to teaching, Dr Edwards gained first hand experience of science/math skills and competencies needed by industrial scientists and engineers. As a senior research scientist for the DuPont Company, he developed new chemical products and manufacturing processes. He also developed mathematical design methods for chemical manufacturing processes. Dr Edwards served as DuPont science liaison for sponsored research programs with major universities in the US (MIT, UMass, Carnegie Mellon) and Europe (Imperial College and University of Edinburgh). He has represented DuPont and the US for science/engineering research projects sponsored by NIST, DOE, IEA (International Energy Agency) and the European Union. Dr Edwards was appointed as Adjunct Professor by the University of Delaware and by Wilmington College, where he taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Ms Jessica Martin Ms Martin has been a chess teacher for the last 8 years in both Tucson and New York City . For the last 5 years in NY, Ms Martin has worked with Chess-in-the-Schools, a non-profit organization, which provides free instruction and materials to inner-city public schools. Ms Martin uses student-centered teaching to augment children's self-esteem and problem-solving skills. She believes in stimulating the desire for knowledge and motivation to learn. Anyone, boy or girl, any age, can learn to play chess and through hard work can become a strong chess player. Ms Martin utilizes chess as a tool to promote education and respect. Sra Damaris Morales, BA (Rio Pedras, PR) Sra Morales is from San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico where she qualified in Art Education and taught Elementary School and Special Education Art. Sra Morales is currently pursuing graduate studies at the University of Arizona looking at how young children learn Art. Ms Julianna Spallholz MFA (Goddard), BA (Union) Julianna Spallholz’s experimental prose has appeared or is forthcoming in Cranky, Folio, Gargoyle, Harness, and Tarpaulin Sky, among others. She has given readings of her work in New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Seattle, Vermont, and Tucson. She has taught writing at several institutions, including Warren Wilson College, Prescott College Tucson Branch, Pima Community College, and at the University of Pennsylvania Writers' Conference. Julianna joined the editorial staff at Tarpaulin Sky in fall 2004 and currently lives in Tucson. Ms Sally Thompson MAT (Johns Hopkins), BA (UT Austin) Ms Thompson has a Master's degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and a Bachelor's in English Literature from the University of Texas at Austin. Ms Thompson has taught Composition, English Literature, Drama and the Theory of Knowledge, and has been a teacher, International Baccalaureate Coordinator and National Honor Society sponsor at schools in China, Argentina, Kenya and the United States. Mme Martine Warden Bacc G1 (Dijon), DEUG (Dijon) Mme Warden has a Baccalauréat G1 and a DEUG in Langues Appliquées, both from the University of Dijon and came to Tucson directly from Paris, France at the beginning of 2005. She also has extensive experience in organizing international events, reinforcing relationships, team-building and developing business strategies. Mr Robert Young MSc (Oxon), BA (Auck), Dip Tch, RSA. Mr Young has a Master's degree in Educational Administration from the University of Oxford in England, a Bachelor's in Linguistics and English Language and Literature from the University of Auckland in New Zealand and a Diploma in the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language from Great Britain's Royal Society of the Arts. Mr Young has over 20 years in teaching and school administrative experience at schools worldwide, and has taught English Language, English Literature, Journalism and Mathematics in New Zealand, Austria, Britain, Argentina, Kenya and the United States. Mr Young has presented at workshops and seminars for students and teachers, and at major international teacher conferences.
